EXTRACTS FROM THE RESEARCH

VOLUME OF RUSSIAN MARKET OF CONCRETE AND CONCRETE BLOCKS

The last five years of market of concrete and concrete blocks can be divided into two periods:

- the growth until 2008, caused by the growth of production due to increased volumes of construction;

- the decline and recovery from it in 2009-2011, which were the results of the financial crisis and the fall of construction volumes;

At the end of 2007-2010 the average annual rate of growth of the market was ***%.

Volume of Russian production of concrete and concrete blocks in 2011 showed the signs of quick recovery. According to the analysts of Intesco Research Group, by the end of the year it can exceed ** mln tons or increase by **%.

During 2006-2009 the share of commercial concrete in the total volume of Russian production amounted to *%, and its fluctuations were insignificant. In 2010 it decreased to *% and according to Intesco Research Group it would remain the same in 2011.

The relative decline of the share of commercial concrete was caused by the relative increase of the share of slabs and similar products in the goods production.

RAW MATERIAL BASE FOR CONCRETE PRODUCTION

After the decline in 2009 of the production volume of portlandcement without additives with special requirements, the share of portlandcement without mineral additives increased to *% and remained at the same level during 2011. As a whole the structure of production remained relatively unchanged.

Monthly dynamics of cement production shows the strong-marked seasonality, the highest volume of production appears in the third quarter of the year, which is the most comfortable for construction with the use of cement, concrete and similar products from the point of view of weather conditions.

 Regional structure of production of cement is marked by a moderate degree of centralization, three largest regions in 2011 had about *% of the total volume of production, the ten largest regions had about *%.  However, none of the largest regions except Belgorod region was marked by a great volume of production, in comparison to other regions.

PRODUCTION OF CONCRETE PRODUCTS IN RUSSIA

In the monthly structure of production of walling blocks there is the same “hump” as in the production of other types of concrete products. Its maximum is in the third quarter of the year.

It should be marked that in this case the increase in the third quarter is not expressed as strongly as in the production of cement or raw materials for concrete.

In 2011-2005 this seasonality was much weaker.

In the third quarter of 2011 production of small walling blocks in RF exceeded * mln cond bricks. In total, the production in 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2011 was the record one for 2001-2011. In the third quarter of 2010 production amounted to * mln cond bricks.

PRICES OF RPODUCERS

10.1. Cement

Annual dynamics of prices

According to the trend of changing of producer prices for cement, since 2003, prices should increase by ** rub/ton per year. Since 2006 this rate has significantly accelerated, that in 2007-2008 led to a sharp increase in the production prices, to * ths rub/ton in 2008. After that a sharp decline occurred, it was caused by the interference of state authorities (reduction of duties for cement) and by 2010-2011 the prices for products returned to the previous trend.

 In 2011 there was a new increase of prices for cement, overtaking the pace of its increase in 2007. By the end of August 2011 the increase of price for cement exceeded * ths rub/ton. If this trend continues, the price for cement by the end of 2011 can reach the maximum of 2008.
